Acer has recently started jumping on the bandwagon of dual core netbook processors and it’s paying off in dividends. Since netbook users have been fed up with the low performance quality of old single core processors, Acer stepped up their game to appease all of their customer base with dual core netbooks that are not only fast, they’re also stylish. The Acer D260 was the first installment into the dual core line from Acer and still tops the charts as one of the best netbooks you can buy at the moment.

One of the key reasons the D260 has jumped out in the lead past competitors is because of a tiny upgrade Acer made to ensure that computer enthusiasts were satisfied. As seen in our Acer D260 review, the computer comes with 2GB of RAM standard as opposed to the usual 1GB that manufacturers try to get away with. Considering so many new netbook owners immediately head online to buy a 2nd gigabyte of RAM after their netbook purchase, Acer decided to save them the hassle and install it by default. It’s the little things and attention to detail that has put Acer in the lead.

Following the installment of the D260, Acer followed it up with an addition to their “Aspire One” line and called that Acer One Happy. The One Happy is also a dual core netbook and is sometimes thought of as the little sister of the D260. Left out from this particular machine is the 2nd gigabyte of RAM that was courteously added by Acer in their first dual core netbook. With the extra RAM gone though, Acer had to make up for it somehow.

While it shouldn’t be the first thing you look at when buying a computer, the exterior does still play an important role in how much you like your computer. Acer went crazy with their color schemes this time around in hopes of appealing to a younger crowd looking to jump into the netbook market. While it may seem farfetched to have a business man carrying around a bright blue netbook, he may very well make the sacrifice when he finds out that it has 8 hours of battery life. Most dual core netbooks only reach around 4 hours or so of battery time because of how much power the processor draws. The One Happy breaks that trend and allows for up to 8 full hours of on the go computing.
