I am going to be more careful in reposting and retweeting what the conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson say.

Why?

Their words aren’t worth repeating.

Why should I post how bad they are when I could just as easily post about how good something else is?

Conservatives will only take the criticism of their words as further evidence of their “persecution.”

These people also say outlandish things for ratings, and we give it to them for free by broadcasting it all over the news and the blogosphere for weeks on end.

The only way to stop the influence of people like Limbaugh is to stop acting like what they say is a big deal.

In the HBO mini-series “Generation Kill,” the RTO of the one of the humvees is talking incessantly to the reporter about his theories of war and Iraq. The team leader says something quite important that we can use in this situation:

“Stop scribbling down what he says. It encourages him.”

Shared Congregational Leaderships
Perhaps I will dedicate an entire post to this in the future, but Bill Easum over at his blog seems to be under the impression that “shared” team-pastor congregations do not work. I don’t know that I agree with his overtly black and white assessment of the situation. His hermeneutics seem a bit skewed in saying there was never ever an example of shared leadership in the biblical tradition, but just off the top of my head I thought of the tension in leadership in the Saul/Samuel or David/Nathan model.
